Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roy Whitaker (ranked 356 p4p, 928 weight class) and Barnabas Ungar (ranked 48 p4p, 127 weight class). Ungar is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Wolf Totem. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

With a record of 25 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Barnabas Ungar!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice jab there from Whitaker .

Whitaker tries to sprawl but Ungar drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Ungar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Whitaker has his hands clasped together around Ungar's back. He's all about the action.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Whitaker wants to control but Ungar is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Whitaker is not content to let Ungar control the position.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Ungar working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Ungar is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Whitaker doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ungar.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ungar looks to land a strike but Whitaker avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Ungar passes Whitaker 's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Ungar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Whitaker is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Heartless Team , so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Ungar sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Whitaker 's guard.
Ungar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Whitaker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Whitaker won't allow Ungar to pass to mount.
Ungar is just content to waste time from the top position. Whitaker takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Ungar tries to free his leg and advance position but Whitaker is retaining full guard.
Whitaker has Ungar pulled in close to control his posture.
Ungar throwing strikes but missing.

Ungar wants to pass the guard but Whitaker is keeping the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Whitaker lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Whitaker fires out a quick counter leg kick but Ungar just manages to avoid it.

Ungar wants to counter with a clinch but Whitaker pushes him away.

Ungar shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Whitaker napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Ungar goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Whitaker rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ungar's guard! Nice work there by Whitaker !
Ungar controls Whitaker momentarily but Whitaker frees himself.

Whitaker wants to stand but Ungar is controlling his posture from full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Whitaker postures up.

Whitaker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ungar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Whitaker has managed to get both his arms back between Ungar's legs - danger averted.
Whitaker wants to control from the top but Ungar keeps moving.

Whitaker trying to control the position from guard on top but Ungar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Ungar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Whitaker is one step ahead there.
Ungar looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Whitaker puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Ungar is trying to maintain the position but Whitaker is very close to passing his half guard.
Whitaker is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Whitaker content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Whitaker takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Ungar chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Whitaker can pounce on him.
Whitaker wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Barnabas Ungar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Whitaker lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Whitaker scores with a nice body kick.
Whitaker looks to throw the jab but Ungar is out of range.
Ungar is looking to clinch.
Whitaker needs to keep his hands up - Ungar had a free shot at his head there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ungar throws a right hand that Whitaker ducks under and follows up with a left that Whitaker also avoids with ease.
Ungar takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Ungar moves into the clinch.
Ungar drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Roy Whitaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barnabas Ungar.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Ungar manages to break the clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ungar will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ungar misses with a series of wild punches.
Whitaker bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Whitaker tries to land a front kick but Ungar steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Whitaker moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Ungar uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Whitaker .
Whitaker is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Ungar takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Ungar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Whitaker but Whitaker pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Whitaker lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Whitaker fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A jab from Whitaker finds it's way through Ungar's defenses.
Ungar is still on wobbly legs! Can Whitaker finish him?
Whitaker misses with a series of wild punches.
Ungar swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Ungar seems to have recovered his senses.
Whitaker jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ungar tries to clinch but Whitaker is having none of it.
Ungar throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Whitaker counters with a series of strikes. Ungar will be more careful next time no doubt.
Whitaker scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Whitaker feints with a jab and clips Ungar right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Ungar is sent crashing into the canvas and Whitaker leaps in for the kill! Ungar tries to get to his feet but Whitaker is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Ungar is in need of a savior and steps in!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roy Whitaker !
A very excited looking Roy Whitaker made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
