Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jim Reefer (ranked 2198 p4p, 3034 weight class) and Brandon Shamrock (ranked 222 p4p, 291 weight class). Shamrock comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Canned Heat- Going Up The Country kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Reefer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brandon Shamrock!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shamrock misses with a body shot.
A quick step to the side and Reefer tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reefer has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Primal Concrete Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Shamrock uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Reefer.
Shamrock looks to score with a jab to the body but Reefer is just out of range.
A nice inside leg kick there by Reefer. That's going to slow Shamrock down.

and Reefer finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Reefer.
Shamrock throws a right and a left that Reefer avoids nicely.

Shamrock is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Reefer.

Reefer is looking to counter the offense by Shamrock and move into the clinch.

Shamrock takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Reefer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Shamrock throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shamrock is still on wobbly legs! Can Reefer finish him?
Reefer misses with a straight right.
Shamrock seems to have recovered his senses.
Reefer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shamrock.

and Reefer counters with a nice body kick.
Shamrock throws out a leg kick but Reefer moves out of range and Shamrock only half commits.
Shamrock has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Reefer.
Reefer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shamrock.
Reefer bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Reefer scores with a head kick.
Shamrock throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Reefer stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Reefer throws a wild body kick that Shamrock sees coming a mile off.
Shamrock rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Reefer counters with a good low kick that Shamrock was not able to check.
Shamrock walks into a left hand.
Reefer slips under a jab from Shamrock.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Reefer swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

and Reefer counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Shamrock is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Shamrock tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Reefer was well out of range. Poor timing from Shamrock.
Reefer with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Shamrock misses with a combination
and Reefer counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Shamrock swings widly with a right hand
and Reefer counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Brandon Shamrock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reefer connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Shamrock's hands.
Shamrock throws a body shot but no joy.
Shamrock throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Reefer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shamrock was well out of range. Poor timing from Reefer.
Shamrock throws a chopping leg kick but Reefer manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

And Reefer counters with a quick kick to the body but Shamrock blocks it.

Shamrock drops his hands momentarily and Reefer takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Shamrock in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Reefer clobbers Shamrock with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Reefer appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with each other but Shamrock might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Reefer has got the better of the exchanges.

Reefer lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Shamrock at a distance.
Reefer throws a push kick but Shamrock slaps the foot to one side.
Reefer fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Shamrock has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Reefer fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Good shot there by Reefer.
Reefer sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Shamrock's defenses. It connects perfectly with Shamrock's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jim Reefer!
During a confident post fight interview, Jim Reefer thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
