Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Backman (ranked 1370 p4p, 3300 weight class) and Jerome Reece (ranked 190 p4p, 408 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mickey Backman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jerome Reece! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jonathan Paton and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reece gets caught flat footed, as Backman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Reece is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Backman is controlling him. Backman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Backman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Backman is pushing down on Reece's leg trying to pass to half guard. Reece is fighting to maintain full guard but Backman has managed to sneak the leg through. Reece wants to get back to his feet.
Backman passes to full mount! Reece wants to hold on but Backman pushes him away. Backman has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Reece's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Backman avoids the attempt from Reece to control. Backman has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Backman postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Reece looks a forlorn figure.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Backman has hold of Reece's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Reece manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's one minute gone in the round. Backman connects with a bit shot that sees Reece covering up! More strikes from Backman and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Backman is our winner by TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mickey Backman! A pretty intense looking Mickey Backman took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
