Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rogerio Duarte (ranked 2634 p4p, 2650 weight class) and Jim Beam (ranked 369 p4p, 372 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rogerio Duarte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Beam!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Darius Henderson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duarte blocks a head kick by Beam.
Duarte misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Beam lands with a nice body kick.
Beam swings widly with a right hand
and Duarte counters with a good low kick that Beam was not able to check.
Duarte moves out of range as Beam strikes.
Beam just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromDuarte.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Beam has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Duarte lands a leg kick that knocks Beam off balance momentarily.

Beam closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Beam lands a good knee to the midsection. Duarte won't want to take too many of those.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duarte tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Beam's elbow.
Duarte tries to work over Beam's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Duarte lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Beam blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Beam misses with a hook to the ribs.
Beam misses with a short punch on the inside.
Duarte blocks an uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Beam softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Duarte.
Duarte throws a head punch that misses.
Beam tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Duarte smiles and moves away.
Beam lands a jab to the nose.
Beam misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Beam displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Duarte.
Beam throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Beam blocks a head kick by Duarte.
Duarte tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Beam was well out of range. Poor timing from Duarte.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beam misses with a lunging right hand
and Duarte counters with a left to the body.
Duarte works the jab nicely.
Beam throws a right and a left that Duarte avoids nicely.
Beam takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A head kick by Beam misses
and Duarte counters with a leg kick.
We've been told by Duarte's head coaches at Soul Supremacy Rio that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Duarte connects with a good right hand that stumbles Beam. Beam circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Beam checks a low kick from Duarte.
Beam is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Duarte smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Duarte pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Beam tries to clinch but Duarte moves out of range.

Beam misses with a straight right.
Beam throws a poor cross that misses
and Duarte counters with a straight right hand.

Beam is rocked!
Sloppy strikes from Beam. Those never looked like landing.
Duarte seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Beam connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Duarte on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Duarte throws a sloppy head kick and Beam moves out of range easily.
A little jabbing left from Beam on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Beam fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Beam takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Beam is still on wobbly legs! Can Duarte finish him?

It looks like Jim Beam has been cut.
Duarte lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rogerio Duarte!
