PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jermaine Camacho (ranked 764 p4p, 565 weight class) and Wally Kruschev (ranked 114 p4p, 91 weight class). Kruschev comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Pissed Off and Mad About it (Texas Hippie Coalition) kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Jermaine Camacho has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jermaine Camacho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Wally Kruschev!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Camacho throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kruschev sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kruschev throws a jab when Camacho was well out of range.
A thudding body kick lands there by Camacho!
A nice leg kick from Camacho, right into the meat of the thigh.
Camacho chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Camacho misses the shot to the body.
Kruschev scores with a nice strike.
Kruschev cracks a nice hook into Camacho's ribs.
Good shot there by Kruschev.
Camacho on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Camacho misses with an uppercut. Kruschev saw that one coming.
Kruschev lands the left hand.
Camacho takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Camacho misses with a low kick.
Kruschev looks to land a right hand but Camacho moved out of range.
Camacho uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kruschev.
Camacho looks to throw a body kick
and Kruschev counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters circling - Kruschev throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Camacho looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Camacho tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Camacho throws the left hand but Kruschev avoids the punch easily.
Camacho ducks under a wild hook from Kruschev.
An inside leg kick lands from Kruschev.
Kruschev jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Kruschev moves into range and clinches up with Camacho.
Camacho tries to stall but Kruschev uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Kruschev breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A shot to the body from Camacho misses
and Camacho takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kruschev has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Kruschev catches Camacho with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Kruschev fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kruschev scores with a hook.
Kruschev throws out a loose jab but Camacho uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A punch lands to the side of Camacho 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Nice uppercut lands for Kruschev. That snapped Camacho's head back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kruschev throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Kruschev lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
A punch combination from Camacho misses.
Camacho swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kruschev is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Camacho had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Kruschev blocks a jab.
Camacho fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Kruschev checks it well.
Kruschev misses with a wild body shot.
Camacho misses with a leg kick
and Kruschev counters with a straight right hand.

Camacho scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kruschev is looking for a sweep. Camacho is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kruschev is looking to control Camacho's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kruschev avoid being mounted?

Camacho is looking for a kimura here.
Camacho wants to take a breather but Kruschev is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kruschev is looking to improve his position.
Camacho stops Kruschev from getting back to his feet.
Camacho seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kruschev does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Camacho is pressing down on Kruschev's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kruschev is holding on for now.

Camacho seems to be working for a kimura but Kruschev defends the submission attempt.
Kruschev is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Camacho throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Camacho is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kruschev doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Camacho.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Camacho is looking to advance position but Kruschev won't allow it.

Camacho is trying to work for a kimura but Kruschev is defending well.

Camacho is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kruschev sees it coming and defends easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Wally Kruschev dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Kruschev connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Camacho looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Kruschev has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Camacho scores with a takedown into Kruschev's guard.
Kruschev lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kruschev wants to control from the top but Camacho keeps moving.
Kruschev is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kruschev wants to stand but Camacho is controlling his posture from full guard.

Kruschev got a little sloppy there for a moment and Camacho has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kruschev has managed to get both his arms back between Camacho's legs - danger averted.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Camacho is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kruschev is aware though and is defending well.

Kruschev lying in Camacho's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Camacho decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Kruschev taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jermaine Camacho!
A determined Jermaine Camacho didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
