Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ren Akita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ippo Makunouchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Makunouchi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Pretender kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ippo Makunouchi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ren Akita! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ippo Makunouchi ! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Makunouchi .
Makunouchi scores with a one two! Akita had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Makunouchi throws a series of punches but Akita moves out of range. Akita ducks under a wild hook from Makunouchi . Makunouchi throws a right and a left that Akita avoids nicely. Akita shoots in but no luck this time. Makunouchi throws a right and a left that both miss. Makunouchi misses the jab. Makunouchi misses with a few strikes there.
Akita darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Akita frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Akita has hold of Makunouchi 's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Makunouchi manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's one minute gone in the round. Akita looking to finish with strikes here!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Makunouchi can do anything to dispel that myth. Akita working for a guillotine from mount but Makunouchi is in no mood to give up. Akita looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Akita fails to take his opponent's back. Akita looking to control but Makunouchi is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Akita is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Makunouchi is in real trouble.
Makunouchi trying to control the hands but Akita won't let him. Makunouchi is trying to stand back up. Even with his hooks in, Akita manages to miss with strikes from the back. Akita has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Makunouchi is defending well but eventually Akita manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Makunouchi has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ren Akita! Ren Akita is the new bantamweight champion!
