Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Cormier (ranked 24493 p4p, 4450 weight class) and Tripp Faller (ranked 631 p4p, 499 weight class). Cormier comes into the arena with Face the Pain blaring out of the sound system. Tripp Faller has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cormier fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cormier.
Faller misses the shot to the body.
Faller throws the left hand but Cormier avoids the punch easily.

Cormier tries to keep at a distance but Faller has taken the fight into the clinch.
Faller misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Cormier.
Cormier has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Faller is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Cormier. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cormier wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Faller has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Cormier's face.

Faller fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cormier sprawls well initially but Faller persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cormier wants to control but Faller is keeping busy.
Faller is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Cormier knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Faller on the ground.

Faller looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cormier with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Faller cracks Cormier with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Faller wants to finish this one by submission but Cormier is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Faller.

The referee warns Cormier that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Cormier tries to reverse the position but Faller maintains control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tripp Faller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Cormier tries for a takedown but Faller sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Faller looks to land a right hand but Cormier moved out of range.
Cormier attempts a counter takedown but Faller avoids it well and moves away.
Daniel Cormier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cormier swings for the body but Faller moves out of range.

Faller moves into range and clinches up with Cormier.

Faller has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Cormier clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Faller has the hooks in. Cormier is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Cormier is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Faller.

Cormier won't enjoy being in this position. Faller looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Cormier is tapping - it's over boys! Faller picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Tripp Faller!
In defeat, Daniel Cormier stepped up to the mic, saying 'You don't quit after you get beat. You pick yourself up, and you start rebuilding to accomplish your goals'.
