Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roman Ship (ranked 1776 p4p, 3107 weight class) and Liam Ghambe (ranked 68 p4p, 112 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Roman Ship!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Liam Ghambe!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ghambe shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ship defends it nicely.

Ship drives through with a takedown into Ghambe's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Ship stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ghambe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ship has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ghambe can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ship postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ghambe is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ship, into his guard.

I've been told that Ghambe has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Ghambe wants to stand and escape but instead Ship has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Ghambe slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Ship is looking for a kimura but Ghambe is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ship to get the leverage.

Ship stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ghambe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ship thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Ship shoots in and drives through. Ghambe sprawls well.
Ghambe tries to counter by closing the distance.
Ship shoots in looking for a takedown. Ghambe tries to sprawl out of it but Ship keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ghambe manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Ship is working for a kimura here but Ghambe manages to reverse the position and he's now in Ship's guard.

Ghambe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ship has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ghambe has managed to get both his arms back between Ship's legs - danger averted.
Ghambe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ship has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ghambe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ship is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Ship is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Ghambe frees his head nicely. Oh but Ship has switched to an armbar! Ghambe is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
