The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Zapp.
Zapp tries to land a front kick but Houge steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Zapp misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Houge misses with a takedown attempt - Zapp sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Zapp swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Zapp throws an overhand right that lands on Houge's shoulder, as Houge tries to avoid the shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Houge shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Zapp stuffs the takedown attempt from Houge. Houge gets slowly back to his feet.

Houge decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Zapp wants to improve his position but Houge is controlling well.

Zapp is looking for a sweep. Houge is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Zapp is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Houge's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Houge's back!
Houge manages to reverse the position and now he's in Zapp's guard. Nice work there by Houge.

Houge will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Houge tries to free his leg and advance position but Zapp is retaining full guard.

Houge is breathing heavily.
Zapp is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Houge is controlling him.
Zapp throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zapp wants to sweep here but Houge controlling him for the moment.

Zapp stuns Houge with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Zapp lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

It looks like Paul Houge has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Zapp lands a right hook to the body.
Zapp misses with a kick to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Zapp jabs Houge right on the nose. Houge blinks but takes it well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Houge shoots in looking for a takedown. Zapp tries to sprawl out of it but Houge keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Zapp manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Zapp scores with a jab to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Houge has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Houge there as he acknowledges the shot.
Paul Houge's cut is getting worse.
Nice uppercut there from Zapp.
Houge tries to move into range but Zapp moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Zapp throws a sloppy head kick and Houge moves out of range easily.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Zapp - that will leave a mark!
Houge takes a kick to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Zapp pushes Houge away with a front kick.
A head kick misses from Zapp.
Zapp takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Paul Houge's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Zach Zapp is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Houge sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Paul Houge is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Zapp feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Houge's calf.
Zapp tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Houge was well out of range. Poor timing from Zapp.
Zapp lands a high kick!

Houge doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
A head kick misses from Zapp.
Zapp tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Zapp throws a sloppy head kick and Houge moves out of range easily.
No joy there for Zapp, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A combination from Zapp does no damage.
Houge shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Zapp as he jumps to the side.

Zapp smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Zapp tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Houge fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Zapp sprawls well initially but Houge persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Zapp is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Houge scores with a couple of nice shots.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Houge not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Houge stops Zapp from getting back to his feet.
Houge moves into full mount! Zapp won't be happy about that!

Zach Zapp showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Houge moves into full mount! Zapp won't be happy about that!

Houge is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Houge!
