Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Islam Petrov (ranked 2102 p4p, 3398 weight class) and Neil Nucombe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Neil Nucombe!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov wants to clinch up but Nucombe keeps it at a distance.
Petrov clobbers Nucombe with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Petrov misses with a series of wild punches.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Nucombe has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Petrov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nucombe walks away with a smile on his face. Petrov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Petrov seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Nucombe loads up on a big right hand but Petrov slips the punch.
Petrov with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Nucombe to score with a decent uppercut.

Petrov tries to close the distance and clinch but Nucombe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nucombe wants to counter with a clinch but Petrov pushes him away.
Nucombe works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Nucombe uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Petrov.

and Nucombe moves into the clinch.

Petrov jumps guard but Nucombe turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Nucombe swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Petrov tries to pull guard but Nucombe holds him up against the cage and eventually Petrov drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Islam Petrov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nucombe pushes Petrov against the cage. Nucombe is working some dirty boxing. Nucombe pushes off with a quick right hook! Petrov goes down! Petrov tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Nucombe moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

A relieved looking Neil Nucombe thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
