Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Cortez (ranked 5048 p4p, 6286 weight class) and Chris Fitzpatrick (ranked 497 p4p, 547 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Eddie Cortez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Fitzpatrick ! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fitzpatrick gets in close and instigates a clinch. Cortez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Fitzpatrick walks away with a smile on his face. Cortez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Cortez fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Fitzpatrick misses with a jab, cross combination.
Cortez with a body punch. A glancing blow. Cortez falls off balance throwing a combination
and Fitzpatrick decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cortez's guard. Cortez manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cortez fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eddie Cortez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cortez goes for a takedown in the clinch but Fitzpatrick prevents it.
Fitzpatrick drags the fight down to the ground.
Fitzpatrick not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cortez trying to control but Fitzpatrick is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fitzpatrick is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Fitzpatrick tries to strike from the bottom.
Fitzpatrick wants to sweep here but Cortez controlling him for the moment. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Fitzpatrick has taken the fight to the clinch.
Fitzpatrick breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Fitzpatrick fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cortez, pushing him back against the cage. Fitzpatrick is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Cortez can't fight it off and eventually Fitzpatrick manages to take the fight to the floor. Cortez looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Fitzpatrick trying to control but Cortez is working from the bottom. Cortez keeping full guard, as Fitzpatrick tries to pass.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cortez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Fitzpatrick is trying to control the position here. Cortez has hold of a guillotine from the top though... oh, that looks naaaaasty, will Fitzpatrick tap? Yes he will! The fight is all over! Cortez jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Eddie Cortez!
