Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jan Sokol (ranked 3329 p4p, 3119 weight class) and Pate Hunt (ranked 219 p4p, 200 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jan Sokol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Pate Hunt!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sokol darts in looking for a takedown but Hunt gets double underhooks and turns Sokol into the cage.
A short left from Hunt.
Hunt lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Sokol backwards.

Hunt breaks from the clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Sokol has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Sokol throws a body punch but Hunt moves out of range.
A nice side step and Hunt releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Hunt jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Sokol tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sokol shoots in for a double leg but Hunt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hunt can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hunt wants to control but Sokol is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hunt might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sokol haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Sokol wants to free his trapped foot but Hunt is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Sokol is looking for a kimura but Hunt is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sokol to get the leverage.

Sokol wants to work for an arm triangle but Hunt is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Hunt told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Sokol thows a huge punch but Hunt dodges it nicely.

Sokol is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hunt is just riding it out for now. Sokol eventually gives up the hold.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sokol is pressing down on Hunt's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hunt is holding on for now.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Sokol shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hunt as he avoids it easily.

Sokol shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hunt manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sokol is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hunt is aware though and is defending well.
Hunt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sokol is on top in guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hunt holds on and takes a little breather.
Hunt's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Sokol drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sokol jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sokol postures up in Hunt's guard and throws a big left but Hunt blocks it.
Sokol will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hunt pulls Sokol in close to prevent any damage.
Let's hope that Hunt has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Sokol postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hunt is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sokol, into his guard.

Hunt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Hunt.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sokol is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Hunt thuds his right hand into Sokol's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

I've got Hunt winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
