PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Maxwell Patelle (ranked 5112 p4p, 3404 weight class) and James Carter (ranked 501 p4p, 406 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maxwell Patelle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Carter!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Columbo Gatti and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Patelles jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Jab, jab by Carter - just one landing.
Patelle looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Carter fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Patelle manages to avoid it.
Carter listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Carter has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Patelle moves to clinch but Carter breaks away
and Carter counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Patelle looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Patelle closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carter circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Carter, as that shot connected.
Carter lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Carter.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carter throws an overhand right that lands on Patelle's shoulder, as Patelle tries to avoid the shot.
Patelle changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patelle shoots in but Carter avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maxwell Patelle. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carter lands a nice hook to Patelle's body. Patelle takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
James Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Patelle walks into a straight right hand from Carter.
A big left from Carter misses.
Patelle attempts a counter takedown but Carter avoids it well and moves away.
Patelle fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Carter doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Patelle takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carter keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Carter misses with a jab, cross combination.
Carter punishes Patelle's body with a nice straight punch.
Carter lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Carter lands with an overhand left.
Carter is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Patelle had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Carter lands a big uppercut and Patelle crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Patelle looks OK. Carter waves Patelle back to his feet!

Patelle is rocked!
Carter circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Patelle to the canvas! Patelle doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Carter keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Carter!
After winning the bout, James Carter thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
