Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lu Wai Ping (ranked 1887 p4p, 1878 weight class) and Elam Armis (ranked 237 p4p, 236 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lu Wai Ping!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Elam Armis!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wai Ping looks to throw the jab but Armis is out of range.
Armis ducks under a wild hook from Wai Ping.
Wai Ping pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wai Ping throws a nice outside leg kick.
Wai Ping throws a hook to the side of Armis's head but Armis sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lu Wai Ping seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wai Ping smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Wai Ping throws a front kick aimed at Armis's knee but Armis avoids it well.
Wai Ping is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Armis.

Armis moves into the clinch.
Wai Ping tries to land a knee to the head but Armis blocks with his arms.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Armis has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Wai Ping uses from the top position.
Armis looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Wai Ping puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Armis just trying to survive but Wai Ping is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Armis looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Armis tries to roll but Wai Ping sticks to his back.
Armis is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Wai Ping off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Armis is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Armis is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Lu Wai Ping overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Armis sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
With the fighters up against the cage, Wai Ping throws an elbow but misses.

Armis pulls guard effortlessly.

Wai Ping is staying tight to Armis's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Armis keeps Wai Ping under control for a moment.

I wouldn't like to be where Armis is right now.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Armis's coach down at Crapollas Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Armis's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

It seemed like Armis was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Wai Ping looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Armis shoots for a takedown but Wai Ping saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Armis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wai Ping is fending him off so far but Armis persists. Nope, Wai Ping circles away and we're back to standing.

Armis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wai Ping's head.

I think Wai Ping has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
