PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ula Tele (ranked 4235 p4p, 24428 weight class) and Daniel Cormier (ranked 0 p4p, 627 weight class). Cormier is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Face the Pain. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ula Tele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daniel Cormier!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Tele finds it's way through Cormier's defenses.
Tele fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cormier closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tele quickly recovers to half guard.
Tele knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cormier on the ground.
Tele is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cormier scores with a couple of nice shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cormier landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Cormier looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Tele with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Tele could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Tele wants to get back to his feet.
Tele has hold of Cormier's hands but Cormier slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Cormier is nestled in close to Tele, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cormier lands a nice short elbow.
Tele is rocked!
Cormier works his foot free and advances to mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cormier postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Tele out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Cormier goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Daniel Cormier!
Daniel Cormier decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
