Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lafayette Arrington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Friedman!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Friedman gets a takedown into half guard.
Friedman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Arrington's head.
Friedman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Friedman is looking to pass Arrington's guard but actually Arrington recovers to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Arrington trying to keep a closed guard but Friedman is proving a slippery customer.
Friedman tries to free his leg and advance position but Arrington is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Arrington is looking to stand up but Friedman isn't so interested in that idea.
Arrington on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Arrington tries to get out of the position.
Friedman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Arrington is keeping the position for now.
Arrington will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Friedman passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Arrington is not content to let Friedman control the position.

Friedman is trying to get an arm triangle but Arrington is defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Friedman goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Arrington has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Friedman but great work by Arrington.
Friedman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Arrington wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Friedman gets back to full guard.
Friedman lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Friedman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Arrington keeping moving, preventing Friedman from controlling successfully.
Friedman looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Friedman wants to pass the guard but Arrington is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Friedman is looking to advance position but Arrington has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Arrington really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Friedman is trying to escape the mount.
Arrington with shots to the head and body - Friedman looks very uncomfortable down there.
Friedman is trying desperately to improve position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Arrington with a couple of short strikes.
Friedman tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Friedman wants to control but Arrington is having none of it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but David Friedman will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Friedman takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Friedman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Arrington as he jumps to the side.
David Friedman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Arrington connects with a crisp jab.
Friedman is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Arrington throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Arrington closes the distance and clinches up with Friedman, looking for a takedown. Arrington pushes Friedman against the cage but Friedman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Arrington shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Friedman napping and manages to drive through into side control!
You can see the frustration on Friedman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Friedman gets back to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Friedman is looking to control Arrington's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Friedman avoid being mounted?
Friedman is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Arrington's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Arrington's back!
Arrington is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Friedman can do to turn this around?

Friedman misses with a punch to the head.

Friedman looking to break Arrington's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Arrington remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Friedman will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Our spies down at at Soul Supremacy Rio inform us that Friedman has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
