Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chiharu Shiba (ranked 3440 p4p, 22921 weight class) and Alphonzo Ball (ranked 420 p4p, 621 weight class). Shiba comes into the arena with Sick Puppies - Survive blaring out of the sound system. Ball is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Zo and Young Lando - Last Days. Alphonzo Ball acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chiharu Shiba! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alphonzo Ball! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shiba pivots, looking for a leg kick but Ball is out of range and Shiba settles back down. Ball blocks a head kick by Shiba.
Shiba fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ball. Ball throws a good cross that connects.
Ball clobbers Shiba with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Shiba attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Shiba throws a leg kick but Ball sees it coming and checks it nicely. Ball looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Ball lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ball. Shiba throws out a leg kick but Ball moves out of range and Shiba only half commits. Ball is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Ball lands an overhand right. Ball takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ball misses with a double jab.
Ball throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Shiba throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Alphonzo Ball seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shiba tries to score with a low kick but Ball moves his leg out of the way. Ball feints the counter takedown. Shiba tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Ball fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shiba. Shiba throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Ball throws a nice outside leg kick. Ball displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ball connects with a jab. Shiba lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Shiba throws a low kick, looking for Ball's leg but Ball calmly moves out of range. Ball connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Shiba momentarily.

Shiba pivots, looking for a leg kick but Ball is out of range and Shiba settles back down. Ball lands a really nice looking cross but Shiba seems unphased.

Ball lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Shiba is looking to score with low kicks. Ball moves out of range of the leg kick from Shiba. Some wild striking there from Ball.
Ball scores with a punch to the head. Shiba attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Shiba throws a low kick but Ball moves out of range easily. Ball jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A leg kick checked by Ball.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ball lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ball. Shiba keeps Ball at a distance using the push kick. Shiba takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Shiba misses with a low kick. Ball is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Shiba had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush. Shiba attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Shiba fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Ball is out of range. Shiba tries to land a leg kick but Ball saw it coming and moves away.
Ball is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Ball misses with a wild body shot. Ball takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Shiba motions for Ball to come forward. Shiba throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Shiba moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Ball's coach down at Roosters Coop was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Ball's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Ball lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Shiba backs up against the cage.
Ball throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Shiba stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Ball lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ball. Shiba attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Shiba throws out a leg kick but Ball moves out of range and Shiba only half commits. Shiba tries to land a front kick but Ball steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. A slapping leg kick lands for Ball.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Shiba throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Ball blocks a low kick nicely. Shiba walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Ball moves out of range of the leg kick from Shiba. Ball with the counter takedown but Shiba avoids it easily. Ball shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Shiba eats them both and turns towards Ball to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Ball sizes up Shiba with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Sloppy strikes from Ball. Those never looked like landing. Shiba is looking to chop away at Ball's legs. Ball throws a right hand that Shiba ducks under and follows up with a left that Shiba also avoids with ease. Shiba with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Shiba throws a low kick but Ball moves out of range easily. Ball avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Shiba misses with a leg kick. Ball digs a good hook to Shiba's body.
Shiba will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Shiba is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Ball lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Ball throws a combination. Shiba tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Shiba misses with a low kick. Ball on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Shiba. Shiba obviously looking to wear him down.
Ball misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shiba.
Shiba takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Shiba pivots, looking for a leg kick but Ball is out of range and Shiba settles back down. Good leg kick by Shiba. Ball lands with a shot to the body. Ball is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Ball looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ball throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Shiba on the side of the head. Shiba throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Ball throws a combination. Shiba tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Shiba misses with a leg kick. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Alphonzo Ball dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ball bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Shiba's head. Ball checks a low kick from Shiba. Shiba tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Ball is able to avoid easily. Alphonzo Ball is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Shiba throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Ball checks the leg kick. Ball checks a leg kick nicely. Ball throws a combination. Shiba tries to block but a couple of punches get through. This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Shiba might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far. Ball checks the leg kick nicely there.
Shiba looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Shiba looks to land a body kick but Ball moved away. Ball moves out of range as Shiba throws a body kick.
Ball lunges at Shiba with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Shiba's hand. Ball lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shiba. Ball has been the more effective fighter overall so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A cross from Ball lands. Ball misses with a two punch combination.

Shiba lands a brutal head kick. Ball looks out on his feet and Shiba throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Chiharu Shiba! Chiharu Shiba decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
