Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tacitus Kilgore (ranked 37 p4p, 190 weight class) and Ultima Koivisto (ranked 6 p4p, 27 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 18 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tacitus Kilgore! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 23 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ultima Koivisto! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kilgore with a hook. Kilgore manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Koivisto on his heels. He'll look to pass Koivisto's guard now, I'm sure. Kilgore lands a couple of elbows. Koivisto is trying to keep Kilgore in close.
Koivisto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kilgore doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kilgore manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Koivisto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kilgore's guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kilgore is on top in guard.
Koivisto keeping moving, preventing Kilgore from controlling successfully. Koivisto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kilgore defends well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kilgore postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Kilgore throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Koivisto works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kilgore forces his way into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Koivisto keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Koivisto regains full guard. Nicely done. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kilgore works his way back into a safe position though. Koivisto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kilgore defends well. Koivisto not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Koivisto is looking to reverse the position. Kilgore creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Koivisto takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Kilgore working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Koivisto tries to buck Kilgore off but Kilgore is having none of it. Kilgore wants to lay and pray for a moment but Koivisto keeps working. Koivisto is trying to control Kilgore's posture but Kilgore avoids it. Koivisto is looking for a sweep. Kilgore works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Kilgore trying to control the position but Koivisto is working away. Kilgore cracks Koivisto with a big elbow. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kilgore trying to control the position but Koivisto is working away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tacitus Kilgore dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Koivisto uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kilgore. Kilgore connects with a solid leg kick. Kilgore throws a big shot that misses. Koivisto is looking for the big counter here. Kilgore moves in looking to clinch but Koivisto pushes him off. Kilgore misses with a straight right. Kilgore connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Koivisto's hands. Kilgore seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Kilgore throws a lazy right hand but Koivisto sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Kilgore is looking to clinch but Koivisto is avoiding it.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kilgore, as that shot connected.
Kilgore connects with a body shot that sends Koivisto's belly button to the back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kilgore fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Koivisto manages to avoid it. Kilgore is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Koivisto can do to turn this around? Kilgore looks to score with a jab to the body but Koivisto is just out of range. Kilgore closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kilgore lands in his opponent's guard. Kilgore is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kilgore stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koivisto swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kilgore stopping the sweep attempt from Koivisto. Kilgore wants to control from the top but Koivisto keeps moving. Koivisto controls Kilgore momentarily but Kilgore frees himself. Koivisto looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Koivisto lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Koivisto in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Koivisto tries to free his leg and advance position but Kilgore is retaining full guard. Kilgore looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Koivisto trying to control the position from guard on top but Kilgore is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kilgore trying to keep a closed guard but Koivisto is proving a slippery customer.
Koivisto is looking to work some ground and pound but Kilgore has wrist control. Kilgore working a defensive guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kilgore keeping moving, preventing Koivisto from controlling successfully. Koivisto looking to sit in guard and control but Kilgore gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Kilgore postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Koivisto looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Koivisto is still trying to improve position. Kilgore trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Kilgore with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Kilgore wants to control from the top but Koivisto keeps moving. Kilgore postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Kilgore throwing strikes but missing. Koivisto looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kilgore puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Koivisto looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kilgore looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kilgore throws a strike but Koivisto avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Kilgore trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tacitus Kilgore dominated that second round. That's time! Kilgore's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Kilgore uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Koivisto has time to react. Koivisto avoids a kick to the body.
Koivisto looks like he wants to counter punch here. Kilgore clobbers Koivisto with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Koivisto misses with an uppercut
and Kilgore counters with a lovely shot to the body. Kilgore lands with an uppercut that bounces Koivisto off the cage and back into range. Koivisto ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Koivisto! But no joy. Koivisto lands the left hand. Kilgore scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Koivisto doesn't seem bothered though. Nice sprawl there from Kilgore as Koivisto shoots in. Kilgore lands with a nice body punch. A thudding body kick lands there by Kilgore!
Kilgore scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Koivisto takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

That's one minute gone in the round. Kilgore throws a jab when Koivisto was well out of range. Kilgore tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Koivisto manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Koivisto checks the leg kick nicely there.
Kilgore checks a leg kick. A nice leg kick lands there from Kilgore. Kilgore with a jab. Kilgore connects with a right hand. Koivisto shakes it off. Kilgore thumps Koivisto with a low kick. Kilgore connects with a crisp jab. Koivisto throws out a leg kick but Kilgore moves out of range and Koivisto only half commits. Jab by Kilgore. Kilgore swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Koivisto avoids the body shot from Kilgore.
Kilgore throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Kilgore scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Tacitus Kilgore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Koivisto takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kilgore throws a shot to the body.
Kilgore staying out of range there. A cross from Kilgore lands. Kilgore misses with an uppercut. Kilgore connects with a right hand. Koivisto shakes it off. Kilgore lands the left hand. Koivisto takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Kilgore is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Koivisto changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kilgore looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Kilgore tries to bench press Koivisto off him but Koivisto keeps the position. Tacitus Kilgore overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Kilgore's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Kilgore is looking for a sweep. Koivisto is looking to take a break and control but Kilgore is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kilgore sneaks back into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Kilgore manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Kilgore wants to sweep here but Koivisto controlling him for the moment. Koivisto is in close to Kilgore's body, working some short punches and elbows. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Koivisto working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Koivisto wants to control from the top but Kilgore keeps moving. Kilgore looking for a sweep. Not yet Kilgore, not yet. Kilgore is adopting a defensive guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tacitus Kilgore clearly takes that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Kilgore is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Koivisto. Koivisto is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Kilgore takes a swing at Koivisto's ribcage but misses. A slapping leg kick lands for Kilgore.
Koivisto moves out of range as Kilgore strikes. Nice defenses there by Kilgore. Koivisto lands a slapping body shot.
Koivisto walks into a jab. Koivisto on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Kilgore checks the leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kilgore tries to clinch up. Both fighters circling a little - Kilgore finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Kilgore moves out of range of the strikes. Kilgore feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Koivistos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Kilgore scores with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Koivisto tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Koivisto ducks under a wild hook from Kilgore. Koivisto takes a body punch but keeps moving. Kilgore goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Koivisto throws a hook but Kilgore avoids it easily. Koivisto bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Kilgore tries to buck Koivisto off but Koivisto is having none of it. Koivisto trying to control the action but Kilgore is working from the bottom. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Koivisto has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. A left lands for Kilgore. Kilgore dips to his left and cracks Koivisto with an uppercut! Kilgore throws a good cross that connects.
Kilgore rushes Koivisto and presses him up against the cage. Kilgore working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kilgore lands a shoulder strike. Kilgore lands with a short shot to the head. Kilgore lands an uppercut. Kilgore lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Koivisto backwards. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Koivisto wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kilgore has him pressed against the cage. Koivisto can't get the takedown.
Koivisto wants to take the fight to the mat but Kilgore manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Koivisto lands a right hand. Kilgore scores with a hook to the body. Koivisto is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. A shot in the inside from Koivisto. A quick uppercut on the inside from Kilgore. Koivisto working hard to break the clinch. A short left from Kilgore. Kilgore tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Kilgore scores with an uppercut up the middle. Kilgore breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Koivisto steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kilgore. A punch lands to the side of Koivisto 's head but he takes it in his stride. Kilgore lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tacitus Kilgore had his way with Ultima Koivisto in that round. That's time! Kilgore's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round! Koivisto comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Ultima Koivisto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kilgore lands the left hand. Koivisto takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Kilgore dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Koivisto. That did some damage! Kilgore closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Kilgore is keen to just control but Koivisto is a slippery customer. Kilgore scoring with strikes to the body and head. Kilgore has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Kilgore lands a big elbow. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kilgore breaks from Koivisto's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kilgore wants to control the pace but Koivisto is squirming around nicely. Koivisto bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Kilgore escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koivisto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Koivisto throws a big right hand that misses. Kilgore manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Koivisto manages to get himself to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kilgore trying to control the position from guard on top but Koivisto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Koivisto pushes a forearm under Kilgore's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Kilgore is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 5, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ultima Koivisto! Ultima Koivisto is the new lightweight champion! A relieved looking Ultima Koivisto thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
