Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Naiki Nekele (ranked 1159 p4p, 1761 weight class) and Horace Cuba (ranked 158 p4p, 230 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nekele swings for the body but Cuba moves out of range.
Cuba wants to counter with a clinch but Nekele pushes him away.
Nekele tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cuba rushes Nekele and presses him up against the cage.
Nekele is trying to break the clinch but Cuba has him pressed against the cage.

Cuba has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Nekele after a bit of a struggle.

Nekele seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Cuba is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Nekele lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Cuba fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Nekele looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Nekele connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cuba. Cuba circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nekele is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cuba can do to turn this around?

Cuba drops his hands momentarily. Nekele doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Cuba staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Cuba doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
