Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Davis Lockley (ranked 4324 p4p, 2990 weight class) and David Friedman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Friedman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Davis Lockley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Friedman! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lockley darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Friedman is staying active underneath Lockley, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Lockley uses his free foot to push down on Friedman's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Friedman. Friedman can't escape the position.
Lockley working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Friedman is looking to improve his position but Lockley isn't that keen on the idea. Lockley avoids the attempt from Friedman to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Friedman felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Friedman tries to hold on but Lockley postures up. Lockley working for a submission but Friedman is keeping him at bay. Lockley is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Friedman can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Lockley swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Friedman is now in Lockley's guard. A big mistake from Lockley there, giving up the dominant position! Friedman passes Lockley's left leg - he's now in half guard. Friedman is pressing down on Lockley's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lockley is holding on for now. Friedman stalling away here and it's allowed Lockley to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Friedman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Lockley looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Friedman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Lockley won't allow Friedman to pass to mount. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Friedman passes easily into side control. Nice work. Lockley is looking for a sweep. Lockley really is a fat lump. Friedman staying calm. Friedman tries to advance to mount but can't. Lockley tries to buck Friedman off but he can't manage it. Lockley tries to lock up and control but Friedman gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Lockley is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Lockley sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Friedman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Friedman performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Lockley wants to control but Friedman is keeping busy.
