PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Reems (ranked 3743 p4p, 4409 weight class) and Scott Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oscar Reems!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Scott Bell!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reems stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Reems wants it to stay on the feet.
Bell fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Reems keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Reems will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Reems not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Bell has eaten all the pies!
Reems is looking to work some ground and pound but Bell has wrist control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bell has control of Reems's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Reems regains control of the situation pretty easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bell wants to free his trapped foot but Reems is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Reems breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice takedown defense from Reems. No joy for Bell on that attempt.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Bell is looking to control Reems's arms but Reems gets an underhook and turns him. Now Bell has his back to the cage.

Bell is trying to force a seperation but Reems has the dominant position.

Reems breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bell slaps away a takedown attempt from Reems, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Reems has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bell uses from the top position.

Reems is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Bell dives into side control.

You can see the frustration on Reems's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Bell is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Reems knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Reems for a finish.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Reems tries to buck Bell off but he can't manage it.

Bell throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

I would just about give that final round to Scott Bell.
I think Bell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
