PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Fatts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fatts comes to the cage accompanied by Hit Em Up by Tupac. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Fatts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fatts fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rogers avoids it really well and circles away.
Fatts throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rogers on the side of the head.
Fatts displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rogers throws out the jab.
A clash of legs there as Rogers blocks the low kick.
Rogers waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Fatts.
Fatts shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rogers pinned against the cage. Rogers gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rogers pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fatts ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Some bone on bone action there as Fatts checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Fatts looks to throw the jab but Rogers is out of range.
Rogers misses with a series of wild punches.
Rogers swats away the attempt to clinch by Fatts.

Fatts throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rogers was covering up waiting for the punch and Fatts finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Fatts looking to sit in guard and control but Rogers gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Fatts looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Fatts escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rogers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Fatts is working an open guard so Rogers takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Rogers looks to land a left hand but Fatts moved out of range nicely.
Fatts closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rogers circles away.

Fatts is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rogers sees it coming and defends easily.

Fatts is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Fatts is just content to waste time from the top position. Rogers takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Fatts prevents Rogers from getting back to his feet.
Rogers keeping moving, preventing Fatts from controlling successfully.
Fatts looking to sit in guard and control but Rogers gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Fatts shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rogers's guard.

Rogers wanted to stand there but Fatts had control of the position.

Rogers decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Fatts drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Fatts stands and steps away. Rogers gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Rogers throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Fatts shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rogers manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Rogers gets caught flat footed, as Fatts shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fatts passes Rogers's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Fatts trying to control the action but Rogers is working from the bottom.
Fatts tries to stand and escape but Rogers is controlling the position.

Fatts is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rogers is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fatts throwing shots but Rogers is blocking nicely.

Fatts is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rogers defends it well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Rogers lands a glancing blow to the side of Fatts's head.
Rogers swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rogers displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fatts.

Fatts has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rogers finds it's way round the side to connect with Fatts's head.
Rogers throws a right hand that Fatts ducks under and follows up with a left that Fatts also avoids with ease.

Nice takedown defense from Rogers. No joy for Fatts on that attempt.
Donk. Rogers catches Fatts right on the button with a cross.
Rogers throws a hook but Fatts avoids it easily.
Rogers throws a lazy right hand but Fatts sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fatts has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rogers finds it's way round the side to connect with Fatts's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fatts tries to clinch but Rogers moves out of range.
Fatts takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Fatts throws a shot from downtown. Rogers moves away and avoids it.

Jason Rogers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Fatts shoots in for a takedown but Rogers shows good takedown defense.
Fatts slips a straight right by Rogers.
Fatts tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rogers swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rogers checks a low kick from Fatts.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Fatts.
Rogers pushes Fatts away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Fatts gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Fatts is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rogers is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Rogers is trying to buck Fatts off.
Fatts tries to advance position but instead Rogers slips a leg back in to half guard.
Fatts wants to free his trapped foot but Rogers is holding on for dear life with his legs.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jay Fatts showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rogers has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
