PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trek Shek (ranked 2231 p4p, 3104 weight class) and Booger Magee (ranked 79 p4p, 76 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trek Shek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Booger Magee!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Ben Watson and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shek jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Magee wants to slow Shek down by chopping away at his legs.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Shek fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Magee looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Shek misses with a looping left.
No joy there for Shek, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Magee tries to clinch but Shek is having none of it.
Magee pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Magee throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Shek counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Magee tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shek manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Shek clobbers Magee with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Shek misses with an uppercut.
Shek defending well as Magee loads up on a big left hand.
Shek definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Magee blocks a jab.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Magee! But no joy.
Shek scores with a nice strike.
Magee misses with a wild body shot.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shek is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Magee.
Shek avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Magee throws a lazy uppercut
enabling Shek to counter with a crisp jab.
Shek ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Magee throws out a counter right but Shek avoids it with no problem.
Magee bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
It seemed like Magee was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Magee throws a head kick but Shek moves out of range.
Magee swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Shek on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Shek moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Booger Magee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shek swats away the attempt to clinch by Magee.

and Shek counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Shek misses with a jab, cross combination.

and Shek counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Shek is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Shek is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Shek throws a right and a left that both miss.
Some wild striking there from Shek.
A jab from Magee finds it's way through Shek's defenses.
Magee lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Magee wants to clinch up but Shek keeps it at a distance.
Shek lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Nice uppercut there from Magee.
Shek throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Magee swings for the body but Shek moves out of range.
Magee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shek was well out of range. Poor timing from Magee.
Magee fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Shek connects with a good right hand that stumbles Magee. Magee circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Shek looks to land a left hand but Magee moved out of range nicely.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Magee.

Shek throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shek ducks under a wild hook from Magee.
Magee moves in looking to clinch but Shek pushes him off.
Magee takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The fight stays on the outside here - Magee looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shek avoids the head kick by Magee.
Magee looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

It looked like Shek was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Shek connects with a body shot.
Magee looks winded!
Shek takes a swing at Magee's ribcage but misses.
Magee flicks out a counter leg kick but Shek steps away.
Magee throws a head kick that misses
enabling Shek to counter with a crisp jab.
Shek moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shek lands a big right hand that sends Magee crashing to the mat! Shek stays standing though and waves Magee back to his feet!

Magee is rocked!
Magee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shek was well out of range. Poor timing from Magee.
Magee is still on wobbly legs! Can Shek finish him?
and Shek counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Magee! He's just covering up as Shek starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Trek Shek!
In his post fight interview, Trek Shek started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
The defeated Booger Magee had this to say: 'Ouchie.'.
