Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Payn Anderson (ranked 6442 p4p, 3057 weight class) and Cody Griffith (ranked 532 p4p, 340 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Payn Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cody Griffith!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffith slaps away a takedown attempt from Anderson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Griffith goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Anderson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Anderson showed some decent athleticism there.
Anderson seems to be looking for submissions.
Griffith is trying to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Anderson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Griffith knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Griffith has one foot on Anderson's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Anderson misses with a takedown
and Griffith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Anderson's guard.
Griffith cracks Anderson with a solid left hand.
Griffith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griffith is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Anderson has a closed guard, preventing Griffith from standing up.
Anderson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Griffith controls the pace.
Anderson wants to sweep here but Griffith controlling him for the moment.
Griffith's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Griffith's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Anderson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Anderson shoots in but no luck this time.

Griffith clinches up against the cage.
Griffith has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Anderson is trying to keep an underhook but Griffith manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Anderson is breathing heavily.
Anderson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Griffith manages to get himself to full guard.
Anderson is fighting to break Griffith's control of his arms but Griffith is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Griffith is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Anderson wants to pass the guard but Griffith is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griffith pushes Anderson off and scrambles back to his feet.
Griffith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Anderson.
Anderson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Griffith's waist but Griffith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Anderson off to one side.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Griffith shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Anderson's guard.
Griffith tries to free his leg and advance position but Anderson is retaining full guard.
Griffith controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Cody Griffith dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Griffith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Anderson, pushing him back against the cage.
Griffith pulls Anderson into guard.
Anderson drops back looking for a leg! Griffith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Griffith manages to kick Anderson off! Anderson jumps back into Griffith's guard.
Griffith is looking for a triangle here but Anderson uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Anderson is working to tighten his grip on Griffith's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Griffith has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Anderson is really squeezing tight and eventually Griffith passes out! Anderson breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
