Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nick McCoy!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Left hook, right uppercut from McCoy.
McCoy throws a nice looking combination but Johnson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Johnson misses with a straight right.

McCoy rushes Johnson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Johnson jumps guard.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCoy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McCoy stands and throws Johnson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Johnson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Johnson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on McCoy's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Johnson gets full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McCoy tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard.

Johnson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Johnson keeping full guard, as McCoy tries to pass.
McCoy is looking to work some ground and pound but Johnson has wrist control.

Johnson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
McCoy pushing down on Johnson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
McCoy is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McCoy prevents Johnson from improving his position.
McCoy looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
McCoy is keen to just control but Johnson is a slippery customer.
McCoy is figuring out what he wants to do next.
McCoy trying to mount his opponent but Johnson defends it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Johnson is not content to let McCoy control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCoy wants to pass to mount but Johnson is defending the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Johnson throws an overhand right that lands on McCoy's shoulder, as McCoy tries to avoid the shot.

Excellent takedown into side control there by McCoy.
Johnson tries to improve position but can't.
Johnson sneaks back into half guard.
McCoy trying to control the action but Johnson is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Johnson is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but McCoy pulls his head out easily.
McCoy works his way into side control.
Johnson is trying to improve his position.
Johnson is working hard here to advance position.

McCoy is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Johnson has escaped the position, nice work there.
McCoy looks gassed!
Johnson regains half guard.

McCoy seems to be looking for submissions.
Johnson wants to improve his position but McCoy is controlling well.
Johnson is pressing down on McCoy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McCoy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
McCoy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
McCoy works a leg free and moves into half guard.

McCoy is trying to work for a kimura but Johnson is defending well.
McCoy prevents Johnson from improving his position.
McCoy tries to stand and escape but Johnson is controlling the position.
Johnson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Johnson.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCoy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Johnson will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Johnson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Johnson misses with a body shot.

McCoy darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Johnson wants to improve his position but McCoy is controlling well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson gets back to full guard.

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McCoy is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Johnson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McCoy's back instead.
McCoy breaks Johnson's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCoy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Johnson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Johnson working for a triangle but McCoy defends it easily.
McCoy throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Johnson has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think McCoy should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Johnson has tightened it up now! McCoy should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Joe Johnson!
