PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Walter Wiener (ranked 2145 p4p, 4757 weight class) and Samuel Lizard (ranked 53 p4p, 98 weight class). Samuel Lizard told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walter Wiener!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Samuel Lizard!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Roberts and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lizard rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Wiener counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Lizard throws a left and a right that both miss
and Wiener counters with a solid body kick.
Danga de danga de dang - Lizard scores with a four punch combination!
A looping hook to the body misses from Lizard. Wiener does a little dance to reset his feet.
Wiener lands with a thumping leg kick.
Wiener gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Wiener keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wiener lands a nice looking body kick.
A big left from Lizard misses.
And Wiener counters with a quick kick to the body but Lizard blocks it.
Wiener misses with a kick to the body.
Wiener moves out of range of the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wiener steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lizard.
Wiener misses with a body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Lizard takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Lizard! But no joy.
Lizard falls off balance throwing a combination
and Wiener counters with a head kick. That will keep Lizard thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Lizard misses with a left hand
and Wiener counters with a nice body kick.
Wiener lands with a nice body kick.
Lizard throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lizard fails to land with a series of punches.
Wiener fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Lizard has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Nice defenses there by Wiener.

and Wiener counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Wiener looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Samuel Lizard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lizard looks winded!
Wiener throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Lizard throws a jab when Wiener was well out of range.
Lizard throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Wiener counters with a nice kick to the body.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lizard chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wiener can pounce on him.
Wiener throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Wiener scores with a push kick.
Wiener really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A head kick misses from Wiener.
A head kick from Wiener lands but Lizard takes it in his stride.
Wiener thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Lizard if he has to take too many more of those.
Lizard throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Lizard swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lizard pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

and Wiener counters with a body kick that stops Lizard in his tracks momentarily.
Wiener thuds his shin into the meat of Lizard's side.

Lizard steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Wiener. That one must have hurt.
Wiener buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Lizard misses the jab.
Wiener lands with a nice body kick.
Lizard avoids the body shot from Wiener.
Lizard misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Wiener counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Lizard has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Wiener.
Wiener throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A thudding body kick lands there by Wiener!
Wiener is looking to slow Lizard down with leg kicks.
Wiener buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Both fighters circling a little - Wiener finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wiener lands a big head kick that sends Lizard tumbling to the mat! Wiener takes a step backwards and waves Lizard back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Lizard walks forward, straight into a front kick from Wiener.
Lizard is still on wobbly legs! Can Wiener finish him?

Lizard throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And Wiener counters with a quick kick to the body but Lizard blocks it.
Lizard seems to have recovered his senses.
Lizard moves out of range of the body kick.
Lizard throws out a loose jab but Wiener uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lizard pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Wiener fires out a quick counter leg kick but Lizard just manages to avoid it.
Lizard throws an overhand right that lands on Wiener's shoulder, as Wiener tries to avoid the shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Wiener! This one is all over!
