Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Pattenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Esai Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pattenson comes to the cage accompanied by Takeover. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Patrick Pattenson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Esai Maeda! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pattenson tries to close the distance and clinch but Maeda swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Pattenson stuns Maeda with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Pattenson fails with an attempt to clinch.
A swing and a miss from Maeda. Patrick Pattenson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pattenson tries to clinch up. Pattenson throws a head kick that misses. Maeda swinging wilding here.
Maeda pushing out the jab but it's not landing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pattenson tries to clinch up but Maeda circles away and keeps his distance. A slow jab from Maeda misses its intended target. A clash of legs there as Maeda blocks the low kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maeda fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Pattenson closes the distance and clinches up with Maeda, looking for a takedown. Pattenson pushes Maeda against the cage but Maeda circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Maeda loads up on a big right hand but Pattenson slips the punch. Maeda scores with a hook. Maeda throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Some wild striking there from Maeda.
Pattenson fakes the leg kick and cracks Maeda in the body. Maeda misses with a series of wild punches.
Maeda goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Pattenson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Maeda sprawls well initially but Pattenson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Pattenson lands strikes from half guard. Maeda tries to get to full guard but Pattenson has control of the leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pattenson looks to land a strike but Maeda avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Pattenson looking to pass the guard. Pattenson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Pattenson has gone for a leg lock! Maeda slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pattenson's guard. Pattenson looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Maeda puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Maeda controlling the pace. Maeda's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Pattenson is looking to escape. Pattenson won't allow Maeda to pass to mount. Pattenson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Maeda sitting in guard here, content to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Esai Maeda will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Pattenson throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Maeda. Maeda with a poor takedown and Pattenson counters with a takedown into side control. Maeda is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now. Pattenson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Maeda is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pattenson looking to control but instead Maeda has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Maeda manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Maeda controlling Pattenson's posture. Pattenson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maeda swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pattenson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Maeda manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pattenson has Maeda in his guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Pattenson being controlled here, momentarily. Maeda sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pattenson's guard. Pattenson wants to control but Maeda is keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maeda is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Pattenson is looking to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pattenson tries to roll over but Maeda keeps him under control. Pattenson trying to control but Maeda postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That was a close second round but I would say that Patrick Pattenson will probably get the nod. That's time! Pattenson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Pattenson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Maeda. Pattenson fails in his attempt to clinch. Pattenson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Pattenson counters with a nice low kick that buckles Maeda's knee momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Maeda pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Pattenson looks to land a combination but Maeda avoids it well. Pattenson throws out a loose jab but Maeda uses good head movement to avoid it. Pattenson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Maeda. Pattenson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Maeda avoids the head kick by Pattenson.
Pattenson tries to clinch up. Pattenson throws a sloppy head kick and Maeda moves out of range easily. Pattenson scores with a three punch combo!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maeda darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Pattenson looking for submissions off his back. Well, if Maeda is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maeda trying to mount his opponent but Pattenson defends it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pattenson is trying to maintain the position but Maeda is very close to passing his half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Esai Maeda comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Maeda has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
