Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Troy KIng (ranked 4300 p4p, 3902 weight class) and Daniel Cormier (ranked 0 p4p, 467 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Cormier's choice of entrance music: Face the Pain. Troy KIng has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Troy KIng!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daniel Cormier!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
KIng stuffs the takedown attempt from Cormier. Cormier gets slowly back to his feet.
KIng stuffs the takedown.
A counter left hand to the body from KIng misses its target.
Cormier misses with a takedown attempt - KIng sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Troy KIng has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Cormier.

Cormier bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
KIng takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Cormier in side control lands a decent elbow.
Cormier scoring with punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
KIng taking punishment in the form of punches.
KIng wants to control but Cormier postures up.
Cormier scores with a couple of short elbows.

It looks like Troy KIng has been cut.
KIng on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if KIng tries to get out of the position.
Cormier landing strikes.

Cormier decides to stand back up.

KIng shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. KIng showed some decent athleticism there.
KIng is breathing heavily.
Cormier is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cormier makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cormier.
Cormier looking to hit a scissor sweep but KIng is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
KIng trying to control but Cormier is working from the bottom.
KIng won't allow Cormier to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cormier seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Cormier fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging KIng to the ground. Cormier is now in KIng's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cormier scoring with punches to the head and body.
Cormier distracts KIng with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Cormier is working KIng over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Cormier wants to control from the top but KIng keeps moving.
Cormier showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Cormier's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Cormier working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Cormier content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Cormier working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of KIng's head.
Cormier is in close to KIng's body, working some short punches and elbows.

KIng is rocked!

Troy KIng's cut is getting worse.
Cormier scoring with some ground and pound.
Oh KIng is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Troy KIng's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Cormier working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Cormier arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! KIng's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Daniel Cormier!
Daniel Cormier decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
