Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Reggie Miller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitchell Clothier! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clothier misses with a takedown attempt - Miller sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Miller looks for a takedown but Clothier sprawls well. Miller blocks a head kick by Clothier.
Clothier keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Miller avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Clothier bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Clothier looks gassed! Clothier trying to control the action but Miller is working from the bottom. Clothier working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Clothier asserts his dominance and retains side control. Clothier tries to stand but Miller is controlling his head. Miller is trying to control Clothier's posture but Clothier avoids it. Miller is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Clothier's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Miller is concentrating on defense, preventing Clothier from advancing position. Miller is trying to stand back up but Clothier is controlling him
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Miller has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Clothier is working away from the top position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Miller looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Clothier stands up and beckons Miller to join him on the feet. Clothier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Miller wants to clinch. Miller throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Clothier darts in trying to clinch and Miller counters with a three punch combo that has Clothier backing up. Clothier nods at Miller to acknowledge the strikes. Clothier tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Miller moves into the clinch. Clothier prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Reggie Miller. That's going to take a lot out of him. Miller throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Clothier tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Miller smiles and moves away.
Clothier shoots in but no luck this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miller scores with a takedown into Clothier's guard. Miller throws a big right hand that misses. Clothier keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully. Miller seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Miller wants to stand but Clothier has a closed guard, so he can't escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Reggie Miller dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Miller tries to close the distance and clinch up but Clothier swats him away and circles back towards the center. Miller forces Clothier back against the cage and clinches. Clothier can't break the clinch.
Miller tries to break the clinch but Clothier is controlling the position. Clothier wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Miller has him pressed against the cage. Miller has hold of one of Clothier's legs. Clothier is fighting the takedown attempt but Miller gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Miller trying to control the position from guard on top but Clothier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Clothier looking to control but Miller passes into half guard.
Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Clothier keeps working. Clothier is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Clothier is trying to control but Miller manages to pass to mount!
Clothier wants to control but Miller is having none of it. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Miller cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Miller fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Miller wants to control the pace but Clothier is squirming around nicely. Miller is really struggling to control Clothier but he's trying to hold on to the position. Clothier really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Miller lands a big shot there that rocks Clothier but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Miller wants to control the pace but Clothier is squirming around nicely. Clothier working to try and regain half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Miller controlling the position easily from mount. Miller wants to finish this one by submission but Clothier is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Miller. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Clothier can do anything to dispel that myth. Clothier's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Clothier is looking to get to half guard. Clothier is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Clothier is squirming around, avoiding Miller's attempts to control the action. Miller gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Miller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Miller closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Clothier to the mat! Clothier manages to get full guard. Clothier has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Miller has passed into side control.
Miller trying to control the action but Clothier is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Reggie Miller dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Clothier throws a lazy head kick and Miller counters with a flying knee. Nice. Clothier misses with a takedown attempt and Miller counters with a shoot takedown. Clothier fights it but they end up in guard. Reggie Miller overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Miller passes into half guard. Miller stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller is keen to just control but Clothier is a slippery customer. Clothier takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Miller working over Clothier with some ground and pound. Clothier looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Clothier keeps working. Clothier trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

The referee stands the fighters back up. Reggie Miller just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Miller thuds his shin into the meat of Clothier's side. Excellent takedown into side control there by Miller. Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Clothier keeps working. Clothier looking for a sweep but Miller has passed into full mount! Oh no!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Clothier is in a horrible position here. Miller smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Miller prevents Clothier from getting the reversal. Miller get's back to his feet. Miller closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Miller stands up and we're back to a striking position. Miller tries to close the distance and clinch but Clothier swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miller looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Clothier has a takedown stuffed. Clothier shoots in but Miller avoids the takedown attempt easily. Reggie Miller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitchell Clothier. Miller scores a takedown into full mount! Miller content just to control the position here. Mitchell Clothier has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Reggie Miller is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Clothier tries to reverse the position but Miller maintains control.
And that's the end of the fight! Reggie Miller showed his dominance in that final round. Well Miller has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
