PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fletch Brandis (ranked 2849 p4p, 22106 weight class) and Dah Winner (ranked 70 p4p, 180 weight class). Brandis comes into the arena with Lynyrd Skynyrd : The Ballad of Curtis Loew blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Fletch Brandis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dah Winner !
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Brandis.
Brandis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Winner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Winner wants it to stay on the feet.
Winner slips under a jab.
Winner swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Winner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brandis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Brandis shoots in looking for a takedown. Winner tries to sprawl out of it but Brandis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Winner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Winner moves in looking to clinch but Brandis pushes him off.
Nice shot lands for Winner .
Brandis takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Winner tries to clinch up but Brandis circles away and keeps his distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A cross from Winner lands.

Winner clinches up with Brandis and pushes him back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Winner 's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Brandis misses with a short punch on the inside.
Winner wants to get back to striking at distance but Brandis won't allow it.

Brandis manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Winner being controlled here momentarily.
Winner throws an elbow that misses. Brandis uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Winner 's guard. Nice move by Brandis!

Winner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brandis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Brandis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brandis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Winner for as long as he can get away with.

Brandis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Brandis wants to work for an arm triangle but Winner is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Brandis with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Winner slips a jab and a cross from Brandis.
No joy there for Winner , who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Winner uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Brandis has time to react.
Brandis throws a looping overhand right but Winner ducks down to avoid it.
Brandis misses with a wild body shot.
Brandis gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Winner .

Winner pushes Brandis up against the cage in a clinch.

Winner tries to break free but Brandis pushes him back against the cage.
Brandis fails to pull guard.
Brandis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Winner just stands there and leans against the cage.
We've been informed that Winner has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Brandis fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fletch Brandis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Winner tries to break the clinch but Brandis is controlling the position.

Brandis pulls Winner in close to prevent any damage.

Brandis wants to sweep but no luck.

Brandis is looking to cinch up a triangle. Winner throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Brandis's body to avoid the submission. Brandis has instead reached around Winner 's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Brandis arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Fletch Brandis!
A very excited looking Fletch Brandis made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
