Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergey Makarov (ranked 952 p4p, 1305 weight class) and Norman Pearson (ranked 129 p4p, 169 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Makarov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Norman Pearson!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makarov lands a nice looking body shot.

Makarov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pearson sprawls well initially but Makarov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Makarov lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Makarov scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Pearson tries to get to full guard but Makarov has control of the leg.
Makarov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Makarov wants to take a breather but Pearson is having none of it.
Pearson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Makarov.
Pearson wants to control but Makarov is keeping busy.
Makarov missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Pearson is looking to control Makarov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pearson avoid being mounted?
Makarov thows a huge punch but Pearson dodges it nicely.

Makarov not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Makarov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Makarov misses with a head shot. Pearson uses the momentum to regain guard.
Pearson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Makarov.
Makarov works over Pearson with some ground and pound from guard.
Makarov is looking to work some ground and pound but Pearson has wrist control.
Pearson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Pearson is controlling Makarov's posture.
Pearson wants to sweep here but Makarov controlling him for the moment.
Makarov connects with a couple of short punches.
Makarov trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Makarov working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Pearson's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Makarov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Pearson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Makarov has a closed guard, preventing Pearson from standing up.

Makarov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Pearson distracts Makarov with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Makarov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pearson defends it easily.
Pearson tries to free his leg and advance position but Makarov is retaining full guard.

Pearson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Makarov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pearson has managed to get both his arms back between Makarov's legs - danger averted.
Makarov has momentary wrist control but Pearson slips an elbow through the middle.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pearson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Pearson works over Makarov with some ground and pound from guard.
Pearson scoring with punches to the head and body.
Makarov controls Pearson momentarily but Pearson frees himself.
Makarov wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Makarov tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Makarov keeping full guard, as Pearson tries to pass.

Pearson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Makarov keeping moving, preventing Pearson from controlling successfully.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sergey Makarov dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Makarov lands with a hook. Pearson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Makarov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pearson can do to turn this around?
Makarov closes the distance and clinches up with Pearson, looking for a takedown. Makarov pushes Pearson against the cage but Pearson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pearson looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Pearson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pearson wants it to stay on the feet.
Pearson thuds his right hand into Makarov's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Makarov here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Pearson looks to land a left hand but Makarov moved out of range nicely.
Makarov appears to be looking for a big counter.
Pearson looks to throw the jab but Makarov is out of range.
Pearson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Makarov loads up on a big right hand but Pearson slips the punch.
Pearson looks like he wants to counter punch here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Makarov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pearson sprawls well. Pearson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Makarov gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergey Makarov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Makarov counters with a left and a right that stings Pearson.
Makarov shoots and misses
and Pearson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Makarov getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Makarov.
Pearson swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

It looks like Sergey Makarov has been cut.

and Pearson counters with a crisp one two that drops Makarov! Pearson thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Makarov to his feet! Makarov is in big trouble!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Makarov shoots for a takedown but Pearson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Makarov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pearson pinned against the cage. Pearson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A little jabbing left from Pearson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Makarov shoots in looking for a takedown. Pearson tries to sprawl out of it but Makarov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pearson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Makarov shoots for a double leg takedown but Pearson sprawls well. He's pushed Makarov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Pearson was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Makarov shoots in and drives through. Pearson sprawls well.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Pearson! But no joy.
Makarov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pearson.
A little feinted left hand from Makarov on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Pearson misses the jab.
Makarov fails with a takedown attempt.
Pearson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Makarovs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Norman Pearson seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Pearson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Makarov misses with a takedown attempt
and Pearson counters with a straight right hand.
Makarov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Makarov slips a straight right by Pearson.
Makarov thinks about countering with a head kick.
Norman Pearson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Makarov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pearson's waist but Pearson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Makarov off to one side.

Makarov moves out of range as Pearson strikes.
Makarov has a takedown stuffed.
A slow jab from Pearson misses its intended target.
Pearson misses the jab.
Makarov fails with a takedown attempt.
Makarov shoots for a double leg takedown but Pearson sprawls well. He's pushed Makarov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Makarov takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Pearson lands a big uppercut and Makarov crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Makarov looks OK. Pearson waves Makarov back to his feet!

Makarov is rocked!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Norman Pearson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Sergey Makarov's cut.
That's time! Makarov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Makarov closes the distance and clinches up with Pearson, looking for a takedown. Makarov pushes Pearson against the cage but Pearson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Makarov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Pearson counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Makarov has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:21 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Norman Pearson!
An out of breath Norman Pearson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
