Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hannu Karpo (ranked 493 p4p, 463 weight class) and Long Hung Dong (ranked 72 p4p, 68 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hannu Karpo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Long Hung Dong!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karpo darts in looking for a takedown but Dong gets double underhooks and turns Karpo into the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Karpo.
Dong tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Karpo presses Dong against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Karpo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dong stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Long Hung Dong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Karpo drops his hands momentarily and Dong takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Karpo shoots in looking for a takedown but Dong manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Karpo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Dong smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Dong throws a solid leg kick but Karpo takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Dong.

Dong is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Karpo had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Karpo closes the distance and clinches up with Dong, looking for a takedown. Karpo pushes Dong against the cage but Dong circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Karpo is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Dong reverses the position - he's now on top in Karpo's guard.
Karpo has his foot on Dong's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dong works his way back into a safe position though.

Long Hung Dong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dong lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Karpo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Karpo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Dong is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Karpo.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hannu Karpo.
I think Dong has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
