PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Dinu (ranked 877 p4p, 508 weight class) and Aatreya Mahrishi (ranked 113 p4p, 74 weight class). Mahrishi has chosen On the Precipe of Defeat as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 45 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Dinu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Aatreya Mahrishi!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mahrishi goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Ryan Dinu has been cut.
Dinu scores with a nice head shot.
Mahrishi lands a head kick. Dinu smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Mahrishi drops Dinu with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Dinu looks back up at him and smiles so Mahrishi waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Dinu is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mahrishi moves away from the strike by Dinu.
Oh Dinu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dinu uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Dinu misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dinu seems to have got his legs back now.
Mahrishi fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Dinu looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Mahrishi throws a lazy right hand but Dinu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Mahrishi blocks a jab.

Dinu closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mahrishi misses with a punch to the body.
Dinu misses with a hook to the ribs.
Mahrishi lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Dinu misses with some punches.
A short body shot lands from Mahrishi as the two fighters clinch.
Mahrishi doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Mahrishi digs a right hand into Dinu's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Dinu's gas tank.
Mahrishi lands a hook that snaps the head of Dinu backwards.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dinu prevents a body shot from Mahrishi.
Mahrishi misses with a body punch.
Mahrishi tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Mahrishi makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Mahrishi.
A nice left hand lands by Mahrishi.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Dinu.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Mahrishi.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Mahrishi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Mahrishi is working Dinu over against the cage.

Mahrishi digs a right hand underneath Dinu's ribcage. Dinu let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Mahrishi tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Dinu's elbow.

Mahrishi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mahrishi throws a powerful right kick. Dinu tried to block low but the kick was high! Dinu was taken right off of his feet! Mahrishi jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
