Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dwalin Giantslayer (ranked 271 p4p, 435 weight class) and Marlin Paschal (ranked 43 p4p, 63 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dwalin Giantslayer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marlin Paschal!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Phil Schofield and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Giantslayer.
Paschal is looking to regain half guard here but Giantslayer keeps moving and retains side control.
Giantslayer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Paschal keeps working.
Giantslayer takes a little break here. Paschal wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Giantslayer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Paschal for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Giantslayer tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Giantslayer is looking to take a break and control but Paschal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Giantslayer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Paschal tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Giantslayer is in Paschal's guard.
Paschal is looking to stand back up but Giantslayer counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Paschal.

Well, if Giantslayer is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

and Giantslayer decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Paschal's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Giantslayer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Giantslayer sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Paschal's guard.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Giantslayer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Dwalin Giantslayer was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
