The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parsons shoots in but no luck this time.
Parsons will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nice combo by Karpov! Oh, that's hurt him - Parsons falls to the canvas and Karpov follows him into side control.
It looks like Thomas Parsons has been cut.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Karpov is looking for a sweep. Parsons is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Parsons swings wildly with an uppercut but Karpov uses good head movement to avoid it.

Parsons is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Parsons extends the arm and Karpov is forced to tap!
