Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Punchy Cartwright (ranked 3209 p4p, 5820 weight class) and Justin Gaethje (ranked 387 p4p, 600 weight class). Cartwright comes into the arena with A Pound of Flesh blaring out of the sound system. Justin Gaethje has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Punchy Cartwright! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Justin Gaethje! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Chris Edwards and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cartwright staying out of range there. Cartwright is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gaethje's half guard. Gaethje wants to stand back up but Cartwright manages to pass into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Cartwright postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Cartwright misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Cartwright landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Cartwright working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Cartwright throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Cartwright tries for a kimura but Gaethje is defending well. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cartwright throws an elbow but Gaethje slips to the side and avoids it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cartwright looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Gaethje dodges the ground and pound from Cartwright. Gaethje is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Cartwright has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cartwright fails to land a wild elbow strike.

The ground and pound from Cartwright seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Cartwright scoring with punches from side control. Cartwright has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gaethje takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Cartwright tries for a kimura but Gaethje is defending well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cartwright controls the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gaethje can do anything to dispel that myth. Cartwright advances to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cartwright wants to finish this one by submission but Gaethje is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cartwright. Cartwright landing strikes from the mount and Gaethje is in trouble! Cartwright looking to finish Gaethje with some ground and pound. This is bad for Gaethje! Cartwright tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Cartwright looking to control but Gaethje is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Cartwright lands with some strikes. Cartwright working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Cartwright is landing with some decent strikes but Gaethje is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cartwright cracks Gaethje with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cartwright lands a heavy elbow.
Gaethje is rocked! Cartwright landing strikes from the mount and Gaethje is in trouble! A nice elbow there by Cartwright. Gaethje looks winded! Gaethje is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Cartwright landing strikes from the mount and Gaethje is in trouble! Gaethje is still in real trouble! Can Cartwright finish him? Cartwright raining down shots from the mount! Gaethje takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Cartwright lands a big elbow - Gaethje is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Gaethje is forced to tap out!
