Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Noel Diaz (ranked 8 p4p, 180 weight class) and Adam Shalashaska (ranked 2 p4p, 28 weight class). Diaz's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Stockton Slap Song. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 20 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Noel Diaz! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 20 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Shalashaska! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shalashaska with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Diaz misses the shot to the body. Diaz misses with a body shot.
Shalashaska throws a chopping leg kick but Diaz manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Diaz blocks a leg kick. As Shalashaska tries to get set, Diaz tries to push him back and clinch up but Shalashaska manages to avoid the attempt. A nice inside leg kick there by Shalashaska. That's going to slow Diaz down. A swing and a miss from Diaz. Diaz looks to land a left hand but Shalashaska moved out of range nicely. A good leg kick by Shalashaska. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz scores with a jab. Shalashaska acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Diaz uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. We've been informed that Shalashaska has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Adam Shalashaska seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Diaz takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Shalashaska pulls out of a head kick attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters take a look at the clock. Shalashaska tries to advance to mount but Diaz denies him.

Nice work there by Diaz! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shalashaska looking for a sweep. Not yet Shalashaska, not yet. Adam Shalashaska showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Shalashaska misses with an attempted mid kick.
Shalashaska staying out of range there. Shalashaska fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Diaz looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Adam Shalashaska seems to be getting the better of the standup. Shalashaska tries to clinch but Diaz moves out of range. It looked like Diaz was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Shalashaska. Shalashaska lands with a thumping leg kick.
Shalashaska will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

He's tossed Diaz clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Diaz stopping the sweep attempt from Shalashaska. Diaz advances to half guard. Diaz passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Shalashaska! Shalashaska is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Shalashaska is desperately trying to improve his position but Diaz has a good base and remains in mount. Diaz looking to control but Shalashaska is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Diaz controlling the position easily from mount. Diaz continues to stall. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shalashaska working to try and regain half guard.

That was a close round but Noel Diaz did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Diaz prevents a body shot from Shalashaska. Diaz lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Shalashaska backwards. Diaz struggles to land a body shot inside as Shalashaska controls his hands.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Diaz holds on and takes a little breather. Shalashaska advances to half guard. Diaz gets full guard. Diaz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shalashaska manages to get himself to full guard.

Noel Diaz had his way with Adam Shalashaska in that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round! Shalashaska dodges the punch combination from Diaz.

The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. A slapping leg kick lands for Shalashaska.

That's one minute gone in the round. A jab from Diaz finds it's way through Shalashaska's defenses. Shalashaska takes a jab right on the kisser.
Shalashaska is rocked! Diaz swings for the body but Shalashaska moves out of range.
Shalashaska appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Shalashaska is still on wobbly legs! Can Diaz finish him? A solid body kick from Shalashaska. Shalashaska seems to have recovered his senses. Shalashaska tries a head kick but it misses.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Diaz wants to control but Shalashaska is keeping busy and won't allow it. Shalashaska is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Diaz sees it coming and defends easily. Shalashaska is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell? Shalashaska uses his free foot to push down on Diaz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Diaz. Diaz regains half guard.
