Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Aldo (ranked 4033 p4p, 23481 weight class) and Gabriel Lapilus (ranked 475 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Lapilus's choice of entrance music: Layer Cake. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapilus throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Aldo takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Lapilus throws a leg kick

so Aldo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Lapilus has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Aldo has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Aldo gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Lapilus regains guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lapilus wants to hit a sweep here but Aldo passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Lapilus there!
Lapilus is in all sorts of trouble here.

Lapilus felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Aldo works his foot free and advances to mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Aldo cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Aldo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Lapilus can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Aldo! Lapilus is hurt baaadly! Aldo is firing away with more strikes - Lapilus is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
