PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryo Hamada (ranked 1708 p4p, 1604 weight class) and Pete Dunham (ranked 233 p4p, 221 weight class). Dunham has chosen Im Forever Blowing Bubbles as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryo Hamada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pete Dunham!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunham attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
A big right from Hamada misses.
Dunham chopping away at his opponent's legs.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hamada is defended easily by Dunham.
Dunham throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hamada fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dunham throws a solid leg kick but Hamada takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Dunham.
A right-left combo lands from Hamada.

It looks like Pete Dunham has been cut.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hamada.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryo Hamada. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Good leg kick by Dunham.
Dunham takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Dunham slips a jab and a cross from Hamada.
Hamada dives in and grabs Dunham's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dunham pushes down on Hamada's head and hops out.
Dunham tries a quick counter leg kick but Hamada is wise to it.
Dunham swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hamada.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hamada throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A bone on bone clash there as Hamada blocks the leg kick.
Hamada shoots in and drives through. Dunham sprawls well.

Hamada closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hamada is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Dunham is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hamada is trying to break free.
A nice right hand lands inside from Dunham.
Dunham lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Dunham throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Hamadas head.
Dunham gets through Hamada's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Dunham breaks the clinch.
Pete Dunham is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hamada is looking to clinch but Dunham is avoiding it.
Hamada moves out of range of the strikes.
Dunham throws a hook to the side of Hamada's head but Hamada sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hamada drops his hands momentarily and Dunham takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Dunham lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Hamada is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dunham's half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hamada is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dunham sees it coming and defends easily.
Hamada is keen to just control but Dunham is a slippery customer.
Dunham really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hamada. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hamada is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dunham doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hamada.

Dunham avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hamada.
Hamada is trying to control the action in half guard but Dunham is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hamada seems to be looking for submissions.
Hamada controlling the pace.
Hamada thows a huge punch but Dunham dodges it nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hamada is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dunham defends it well.
Dunham wants to get back to full guard.

Hamada is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Dunham is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ryo Hamada!
