The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smochina looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Flick is fending him off so far but Smochina persists. Nope, Flick circles away and we're back to standing.
Smochina closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smochina lands in his opponent's guard.
Flick pulls Smochina in close to prevent any damage.
Smochina wants to control from the top but Flick keeps moving.
Smochina advances to half guard.
Smochina trying to control the action but Flick is working from the bottom.
Flick wants to improve his position but Smochina is controlling well.
Flick knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smochina on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
