PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Hignett (ranked 24312 p4p, 5124 weight class) and Jasur Pak (ranked 473 p4p, 396 weight class). Hignett kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Right Above It. Jasur Pak is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ralph Hignett !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jasur Pak!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Steve Montenegro and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hignett will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hignett fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hignett misses with the combination.
Pak lands a nice hook to Hignett 's body. Hignett takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Pak shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hignett but Hignett pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hignett feinted with a counter takedown.
Pak throws a sloppy head kick and Hignett moves out of range easily.
Hignett misses with a double jab

and Pak counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pak accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hignett is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hignett is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Pak controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Pak throwing strikes but missing.
Pak looking to pass the guard.
Pak slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Pak tries to free his leg and advance position but Hignett is retaining full guard.

Hignett throws his legs up looking for a submission but Pak uses it to pass to side control.
Pak advances to full mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pak takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Pak fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Pak working for a guillotine from mount but Hignett is in no mood to give up.

Pak working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Hignett turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Pak off and cradles Hignett 's limp body as Pak celebrates with his corner.
