The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duplee keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Duplee fails with the takedown and Gibson counters by clinching up. Duplee fails to pull guard.

Roy Gibson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Norm Duplee. Duplee has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gibson uses from the top position. Duplee had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gibson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Duplee Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gibson's back instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Duplee working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Duplee working for a choke but Gibson is defending well. Gibson looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Gibson is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Duplee gets his way!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Duplee is persistently looking for the submission but Gibson is defending it well.
