Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mongo Smash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tano Gianacopulos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smash's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Donkey Kong Country Music - Main Theme. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mongo Smash! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tano Gianacopulos! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smash avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Smash drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Smash landing with the ground and pound. Smash throwing strikes but missing. Gianacopulos avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Smash prevents Gianacopulos from getting back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smash pushes down on Gianacopulos's leg and manages to get into half guard. Gianacopulos is refusing to be controlled, as Smash sits in half guard. Smash is pressing down on Gianacopulos's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gianacopulos is holding on for now. Smash throwing shots but Gianacopulos is blocking nicely. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gianacopulos can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smash looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smash not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Gianacopulos avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Smash. Gianacopulos is looking to escape. Gianacopulos blocking the ground and pound attempt from Smash.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Gianacopulos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smash swats him away and circles back towards the center. Smash drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gianacopulos wants to get back to his feet but Smash drags him back down. Smash tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Smash has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gianacopulos defending against the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gianacopulos managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Smash.
The ground and pound from Smash seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Gianacopulos tries to escape but Smash is in control. Smash tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Smash scores with a couple of short elbows. Smash tries for a kimura but Gianacopulos is defending well. Smash is breathing heavily. Smash misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gianacopulos is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Smash is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gianacopulos has escaped the position, nice work there. Smash tries to move to mount but Gianacopulos blocks the move with his legs. Gianacopulos wants to get back to his feet. Smash in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Gianacopulos is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Smash working the ground and pound from side control. Smash tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Gianacopulos is pushing Smash's head away, looking to escape. Smash manages to hold on to the position though. Smash wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gianacopulos, who protects the arm well. The strikes coming from Smash are missing the target in this wave of attacks. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mongo Smash dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Smash tries to clinch but Gianacopulos is having none of it. Smash wants to clinch. Smash misses with a wild body shot. Gianacopulos swats away the attempt to clinch by Smash. Smash circles away from the clinch attempt and Smash counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gianacopulos won't be happy with that. Gianacopulos parries the strikes from Smash easily there. Smash is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Gianacopulos to escape.
Gianacopulos tries to escape but Smash is in control. Smash thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Gianacopulos wants to get back to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smash looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Gianacopulos is avoiding damage well.
Smash in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Smash thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Smash wants to control but Gianacopulos is keeping him busy.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Gianacopulos tries to clinch and Smash counters by clinching up. Smash is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gianacopulos pulls him back up using the underhooks. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Smash just misses with a elbow thrown towards Gianacopulos's brow. Gianacopulos tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Smash throws a head punch that misses. Smash dodges an elbow strike from Gianacopulos.
Gianacopulos is trying to break the clinch but Smash has him pressed against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gianacopulos breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Gianacopulos rushes Smash and presses him up against the cage. Smash misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Gianacopulos.
Gianacopulos has had enough of the clinch but Smash keeps him there for the moment. Smash scores with a nice hook to the head. Gianacopulos misses with a knee strike.
Gianacopulos's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Gianacopulos throws a leg kick but Smash sees it coming and moves out of range. The fight stays on the outside here - Gianacopulos looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Excellent takedown into side control there by Smash. Gianacopulos is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Smash is controlling him well. The strikes coming from Smash are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smash is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gianacopulos is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Smash cracks Gianacopulos with a big right hand but Gianacopulos just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Gianacopulos avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Smash. Smash is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gianacopulos has escaped the position, nice work there. Gianacopulos is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Smash is controlling him well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Smash wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gianacopulos keeps working. Smash is really struggling to control Gianacopulos but he's trying to hold on to the position. Smash throws an elbow but Gianacopulos slips to the side and avoids it well.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Smash fails to land the takedown. Gianacopulos doesn't manage to clinch there - Smash circles away.

Mongo Smash dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Gianacopulos tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Gianacopulos lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Gianacopulos darts in and clinches Smash up against the cage. Smash lands with a short shot to the head. Gianacopulos tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Smash lands an elbow just above Gianacopulos 's eye. A short uppercut from Smash. Gianacopulos tries to land knees in the clinch but Smash avoids the damage to the body. Smash misses with some punches.
Smash keeps control of Gianacopulos as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Gianacopulos blocks an elbow strike from Smash.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Smash takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Smash pushes Gianacopulos back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Smash lands a hook to the side of the head. Nice body punch from Smash. Smash lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gianacopulos pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Smash clinches up against the cage. Gianacopulos content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Gianacopulos pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. A head punch blocked on the inside by Gianacopulos. Gianacopulos with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Smash misses with a punch on the inside.
Smash lands a body punch. Smash drags the fight down to the ground.
Smash has a closed guard, preventing Gianacopulos from standing up. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smash is on top in guard.
Smash thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Smash postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gianacopulos is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Smash, into his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smash not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Smash working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gianacopulos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gianacopulos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gianacopulos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smash. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gianacopulos wanted to stand there but Smash had control of the position. Gianacopulos passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smash is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gianacopulos pulls his head out easily. Smash is trying to get back to full guard. Gianacopulos decides to stand and escape the position. The fight moves into the clinch position. Smash tries to land a knee to the head but Gianacopulos blocks with his arms.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Smash landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Mongo Smash is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Gianacopulos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tano Gianacopulos is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Gianacopulos tries to clinch but Smash is having none of it. Gianacopulos connects with a solid leg kick. Smash doesn't manage to clinch there - Gianacopulos circles away.
Gianacopulos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Smash closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smash lands in his opponent's guard. Smash controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Smash works a leg free and moves into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mongo Smash. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smash, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
