PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Heal (ranked 4640 p4p, 6195 weight class) and Mido Daksse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mido Daksse!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daksse will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Daksse throws a body punch but Heal moves out of range.
Heal showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Daksse.
Good work by Heal as he checks the leg kick.
Daksse shoots in but Heal avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sloppy strikes from Heal. Those never looked like landing.
Heal shoots in but no luck this time.
Heal tries a head kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Heal changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Daksse tries to avoid it but Heal manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Daksse to the ground. Daksse escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Daksse tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Heal seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Daksse stuffs the takedown attempt from Heal. Heal gets slowly back to his feet.

Heal makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Heal has Daksse pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Daksse manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Heal gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Heal is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Heal gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Daksse.

That was a close round but I would say that Jake Heal will probably get the nod.

Heal lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Heal decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Daksse, up you get!
Daksse looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Heal is fending him off so far but Daksse persists. Nope, Heal circles away and we're back to standing.

Heal tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Daksse paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Heal scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Heal lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Heal tries to break free but Daksse pushes him back against the cage.

Heal has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Heal decides to pull guard.
Daksse preventing the sweep.
Heal manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Daksse manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Daksse can do anything to dispel that myth.
Heal throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Daksse works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Heal forces his way into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Heal is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Daksse can do to turn this around?

Daksse pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Heal is keeping the position for now.
Daksse wants to control from the top but Heal keeps moving.
Daksse really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Heal. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Heal is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Daksse is aware though and is defending well.

Well Heal has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
