PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Max Chapman (ranked 2812 p4p, 4230 weight class) and Roth Kanh (ranked 184 p4p, 272 weight class). Chapman comes to the cage accompanied by Invincible - Pop Smoke. Roth Kanh will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Max Chapman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roth Kanh!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chapman takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Kanh throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Chapman on the side of the head.

Chapman clinches.
Chapman dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Chapman pulls guard.
Kanh wants to control from the top but Chapman keeps moving.
Chapman seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Chapman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chapman is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Kanh wants to control from the top but Chapman keeps moving.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Chapman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Kanh fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Chapman looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kanh throws a right and a left that both miss.
Chapman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Chapman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kanh for as long as he can get away with.
Chapman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Kanh is looking to control Chapman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kanh avoid being mounted?

Chapman frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Chapman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Chapman moves to take his opponent's back.

Chapman is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kanh is defending well though. Chapman let's go of the attempt for now.
Chapman has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kanh's body.

Chapman has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kanh has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Chapman controlling the position well here. Kanh rolled but Chapman kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Kanh misses with a wild body shot.
Chapman walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Donk. Kanh catches Chapman right on the button with a cross.

Chapman closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kanh's guard.
Chapman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Chapman stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Kanh clobbers Chapman with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Chapman closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kanh quickly recovers to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kanh is just holding on here. Chapman manages to take his back.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Chapman is looking for the choke from the back position but Kanh is controlling his hands well.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Chapman controlling the positon.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Chapman is controlling the position but Kanh somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Chapman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kanh can do to turn this around?

Kanh is looking to control Chapman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kanh avoid being mounted?

Chapman is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kanh sees it coming and defends easily.

Chapman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kanh stops Chapman from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Kanh is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chapman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kanh has given up his back. Will we see Chapman going for some submissions?
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

A nice combination there by Kanh.
Chapman takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Chapman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kanh to the mat! Kanh manages to get full guard.
Max Chapman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Chapman stands up and waves to Kanh to follow him.

Chapman is pushing down on Kanh's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kanh is fighting to maintain full guard but Chapman has managed to sneak the leg through.

Chapman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Chapman seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kanh is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Chapman continues to stall.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Chapman.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chapman really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Kanh.
Kanh is trying to break free.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Chapman controlling the positon.
Roth Kanh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kanh is really stuck here.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chapman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
