Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Rivero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tong Po (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tong Po will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Rivero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tong Po!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rivero fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Po, pushing him back against the cage.
Po is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rivero pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Rivero manages to break the clinch.
Po fails with a takedown attempt.
John Rivero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tong Po.

Po shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rivero sprawls well. Rivero wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Po gets slowly back to his feet.

Rivero shoots in and bounces Po off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Po looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rivero puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Po is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Rivero jumps into side control!

Rivero decides to stand back up. Rivero steps back and let's Po get back to his feet.

Rivero moves into the clinch.
Rivero is pushing Po up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Po gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Rivero counters with a shoot takedown. Po fights it but they end up in guard.
Po keeping moving, preventing Rivero from controlling successfully.
Rivero scoring with punches to the head and body.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rivero is stalling in the full guard.

Po looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rivero is one step ahead there.

Po had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rivero is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Po Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rivero's back instead.
Po doesn't have the hooks in and Rivero manages to turn into his guard.

and Rivero counters by moving into the clinch.
Po tries for a takedown but Rivero manages to get underhooks.

Rivero turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Rivero manages to end up in side control.

Po is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Rivero is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Rivero tries to control but Po wriggling away.
Rivero lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Rivero pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Po bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Po passes Rivero's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Po fails with the takedown

and Rivero counters by moving into the clinch.
Po is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Rivero gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Rivero is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

and Rivero counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Po's guard now.
John Rivero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tong Po.
Rivero not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rivero has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Po is breathing heavily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rivero manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Po manages to get himself to full guard.

John Rivero overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Po is looking to improve his position.

Po is not content to let Rivero control the position.
Po makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Po.

Po working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rivero doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rivero manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A left hand lands to the body for Rivero.
Po drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rivero gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Po's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Rivero's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Po slips a jab and a cross from Rivero.

Po gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rivero to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Rivero changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Po looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Po is looking to reverse the position.

Tong Po has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

John Rivero showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Rivero has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
