Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Halfdan Ulfgeirsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Curtis Rome!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ulfgeirsson swings for the body but Rome moves out of range.
A slow jab from Ulfgeirsson misses its intended target.
Rome keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
It seemed like Rome was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Rome ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nice sprawl there from Ulfgeirsson as Rome shoots in.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rome moves out of range as Ulfgeirsson strikes.

Rome tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ulfgeirsson swivels and escapes.
A little feinted left hand from Ulfgeirsson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Halfdan Ulfgeirsson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Curtis Rome.

Ulfgeirsson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ulfgeirsson wants it to stay on the feet.

Rome looking to score a takedown here. Ulfgeirsson is defending well but Rome drives through and ends up in Ulfgeirsson's guard.
Rome is looking to stand up but Ulfgeirsson won't let him.

Rome is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rome loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Rome pushes down on Ulfgeirsson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Rome is looking to advance position but Ulfgeirsson won't allow it.
Ulfgeirsson tries to kick Rome off but Rome keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Ulfgeirsson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rome is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rome is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ulfgeirsson is just riding it out for now. Rome eventually gives up the hold.

Rome looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ulfgeirsson is looking to control Rome's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ulfgeirsson avoid being mounted?
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Halfdan Ulfgeirsson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Ulfgeirsson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rome can do to turn this around?
Rome shoots in for a double leg but Ulfgeirsson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ulfgeirsson throws a hook to the side of Rome's head but Rome sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Rome closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ulfgeirsson circles away.

Ulfgeirsson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rome to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Ulfgeirsson is trying to keep Rome in close.

Rome thows a huge punch but Ulfgeirsson dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rome passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ulfgeirsson!
Ulfgeirsson is controlling an arm, preventing Rome from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Ulfgeirsson reaches up to try and control the position but Rome seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Ulfgeirsson rolls and tries to escape and now Rome has his back!

Rome is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Ulfgeirsson knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Ulfgeirsson for a finish.

Well, with Rome on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Ulfgeirsson is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Rome has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Ulfgeirsson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Our spies down at at The Jungle Room inform us that Rome has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Rome is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Ulfgeirsson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Ulfgeirsson is trying to defend against the choke here but Rome has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Rome Tightens the hold and Ulfgeirsson taps out furiously! Rome displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Curtis Rome!
Curtis Rome really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Redemption ink logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
