Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Caleb Covington (ranked 4378 p4p, 6555 weight class) and Ty Jaxon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ty Jaxon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Caleb Covington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ty Jaxon!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Covington gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Jaxon holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Jaxon is stalling here.

Jaxon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Covington tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jaxon swivels and escapes.
Covington shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jaxon as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Caleb Covington. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jaxon has Covington up against the cage in a clinch.
Covington tries for a takedown. No joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jaxon drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Covington gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Covington dives in and grabs Jaxon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jaxon pushes down on Covington's head and hops out.

Jaxon goes for a takedown in the clinch but Covington prevents it.

Jaxon pulls guard successfully.
Covington looking to sit in guard and control but Jaxon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Jaxon passes Covington's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Jaxon is pressing down on Covington's thigh, looking to free his foot. Covington is holding on for now.

Covington wants to get back to full guard.
Covington tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Jaxon prevents Covington from improving his position.
Covington holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Jaxon is thwarting Covington's attempts to control the position.
Covington is trying to control but Jaxon manages to pass to mount!

Covington tries to lock up and control but Jaxon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Jaxon is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Covington to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Covington shrugs it off.
Covington tries to improve his position but instead Jaxon has taken his back!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
It looks like Jaxon might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Covington tries to escape but Jaxon has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jaxon swats away the attempt to clinch by Covington.
Jaxon drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Covington defends it well.

Jaxon dives in for a single leg takedown but Covington sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Covington lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Jaxon controls Covington momentarily but Covington frees himself.
Covington knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jaxon on the ground.
Covington is looking to stand up but Jaxon won't let him.

Covington wanted to stand there but Jaxon had control of the position.

Jaxon is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Jaxon goes for a double leg but Covington avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Covington continues to drive forward.
Covington shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Jaxon counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Covington tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jaxon just stands there and leans against the cage.
Covington is trying to break the clinch but Jaxon is controlling him.

Jaxon ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jaxon no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Covington trying to control the position from guard on top but Jaxon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Covington wants to stand and escape but instead Jaxon has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Covington is striking but Jaxon is not phased and passes to half guard.
Covington tries to roll over but Jaxon keeps him under control.
Covington has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jaxon is working away from the top position though.

Ty Jaxon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Covington jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jaxon walks away with a smile on his face. Covington gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Covington looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jaxon tries to bum rush Covington with a series of wild strikes but Covington uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Jaxon is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Well Jaxon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
