Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Scipio Africanus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tommy Coleman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scipio Africanus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Coleman! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coleman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Africanus swats him away and circles back towards the center. Africanus throws a big shot that misses. A combination from Africanus does no damage. Coleman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Coleman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Africanus.
Africanus stuffs the takedown attempt from Coleman. Coleman gets slowly back to his feet. Coleman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Africanus swats him away and circles back towards the center. No luck with that takedown attempt from Coleman. A jab from Africanus misses. Africanus waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Coleman. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Coleman gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Africanus drives through with a takedown into guard. Africanus won't allow Coleman to sweep him here. Africanus sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman wants to sweep here but Africanus controlling him for the moment. Coleman trying to control the position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Africanus is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Coleman trying to control the position here. Africanus is stalling in the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coleman had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Africanus is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Coleman Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Africanus's back instead. Africanus is trying to break free.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Africanus prevents Coleman from getting a body triangle. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Coleman is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Africanus is defending well though. Coleman let's go of the attempt for now. Africanus is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Scipio Africanus dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Africanus swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Decent striking displayed by Africanus there. Coleman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Africanus sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Africanus lunges at Coleman with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Coleman's hand. Africanus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Coleman circles away quickly and effectively. Africanus scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Coleman gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Africanus stalling. Coleman wants to control but Africanus passes into side.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Coleman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Coleman gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Coleman tries to hold on but Africanus postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Africanus tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Africanus's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Coleman keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Africanus takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Coleman is desperately trying to improve his position but Africanus has a good base and remains in mount. Africanus tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Africanus seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Coleman for as long as he can get away with.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Coleman reaches up and holds on to Africanus to control the position. Africanus is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Scipio Africanus dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Africanus lunges at Coleman with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Coleman's hand. Africanus just misses with a punch to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Coleman looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Africanus throws a shot from downtown. Coleman moves away and avoids it. Coleman tries a head kick but it misses.
Africanus thows a body shot but no joy. Africanus throws out a powerful jab. Africanus keeps the fight on the outside. Scipio Africanus is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Coleman shoots in and drives through. Africanus sprawls well. Africanus lands an overhand right. Coleman closes the distance and clinches. Coleman goes for a takedown in the clinch but Africanus prevents it.
Africanus pulls guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Africanus working for a triangle but Coleman defends it easily.
Africanus wants to sweep here but Coleman controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Coleman won't allow Africanus to get back to his feet. Coleman looking to sit in guard and control but Africanus gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Africanus has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Africanus wants to stand and escape but instead Coleman has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Coleman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Africanus looking to control.
Scipio Africanus is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Africanus keeping moving, preventing Coleman from controlling successfully. Africanus preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Coleman showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Coleman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Africanus swivels though and keeps the full guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Africanus throws a big shot that misses. Africanus scores with a decent looking hook. Tommy Coleman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Left hook, right uppercut from Africanus. Africanus smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Africanus dips to his left and cracks Coleman with an uppercut! Africanus displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Coleman.
And that's the end of the fight! Scipio Africanus showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Africanus, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
