PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fred Kruger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pepe Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Pepe Jackson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fred Kruger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pepe Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kruger is looking to clinch.
Jackson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Kruger throws a sloppy head kick and Jackson moves out of range easily.

Kruger drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jackson wants to control but Kruger postures up.

Kruger decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Kruger shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Kruger tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kruger working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Kruger wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Kruger trying to control but Jackson is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kruger controlling from the full mount.

Kruger get's back to his feet.

Kruger feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jackson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kruger is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Jackson.
Kruger is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Kruger tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jackson's legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jackson pushes Kruger away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kruger gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Kruger controlling the position.

Jackson throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Kruger fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jackson, pushing him back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kruger walks away with a smile on his face. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Jackson fails in his attempt to clinch.

Kruger moves into the clinch.

Kruger is trying to trip Jackson. He has hold of a leg but Jackson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kruger persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Jackson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Kruger thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kruger has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jackson is proving hard to escape from.
Jackson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kruger is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kruger wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jackson pushes a forearm under Kruger's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Kruger is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Pepe Jackson!
